After 24 years Cunard lost the contract to carry the Halifax mail to Inman, effective 1st January 1868.

Bermuda 20th November 1868. Officer’s letter franked 6d, the norm al Vi oz. rate was 1/-.
Put on “Alpha”. Halifax 4th December. Transferred to “City of Washington”.
Liverpool 15th December. Struck with Tabeart PI 7. Glasgow the 16th. Ex Osborn.
Bermuda 6th May 1869. Franked l/4d, the Vi oz. rate to France.
8th May put on “Alpha”. Halifax 21st May transferred to “City of Cork'”.
Liverpool 1st June. Calais 2nd June. Bordeaux the 3rd, a transit of 27 days.
