SP 26 29 cover from St John’s to London’s Hyde Park was endorsed ‘sent by “Pan American Airways” via U.S.A.’ bearing Antigua 4d and 1s (SG56 and 76?) with Leewards ½d making up the 1s 4½d rate. This was the date of the first northbound flight from Antigua. In place of a first flight cachet you have some foxing spots, and what may be a commercial usage of the first flight - Est: £40Lot 037

On 21 May 1943 a young lady sent this ppc of St John’s Cathedral to her uncle in Trinidad where it arrived five days later after passing through the hands of the censor and with a faint, but discernible octagonal Crown/Passed/IB2 hand stamp – Burrows type S4 who gives it a scarcity rating of 8 and says ‘only known on a postcard’ and ‘20 August 1944’ so this is substantially earlier than his EKD - Est: £30Lot 042

Two 1960’s covers with maritime flavour – one posted on board Cunard’s RMS Franconia to Oldham has a strip of 6x GB ½d cancelled by Antigua Paquebot and St Johns date stamp of 17 FE 64. With it comes a cover with the 1966 GB World Cup 4d with Antigua Paquebot cancel and the Purser’s dated cachet for RMS Andes on 26 NOV 1966 - Est: £10Lot 044
One could easily ignore this roughly opened Leewards 1d rose PSE sent from Antigua to the Royal Naval College at Greenwich on AU 3 98, it is uprated with QV 1d and 2½d stamps, but under the 1d is the ‘Late fee’ handstamp. Proud’s I2 and eight months before the EKD given by him - Est: £30Lot 045a
