Perhaps fortunately, Montserrat was the only British Caribbean territory to fall for the De Landre Red Cross scam. De Landre, pseudonym of Gaston Fontanille, was arrested in June 1917 but not before he had produced these 1d + 1d French Red Cross labels, trading off the desire to raise funds for the Red Cross worldwide.
