A complete mint pane of the 2½d ultramarine SG27 with plate no.2; this is the left hand pane which means you only get one of the two varieties – the sloping foot at 7/1 is clear (SG27a). (The Thompson flaw is only found at 3/3 on the right hand pane).

PETERS (x2 on QV 1ds), ALL SAINTS (1d QV), a clear but slightly faint SEATONS (on KGV 1d Silver Jubilee) which is a rare cancel in this period; full FREETOWN (pair of 2d vermilion KGVI) and BENDALS (large part strikes on KGVI ½d grey and 1½d orange and black).

Lot 022
Two envelopes opened and resealed with tape bearing S2.1 handstamp ‘EXAMINED BY CENSOR/ ANTIGUA’. Firstly from Antigua to St Croix in the US Virgin Islands sent by airmail for 10d (Leewards 6d and 2x2d) on 23 Dec 41, with what we take to be a manu ‘1’ in blue. Secondly sent 10 Nov 41 to Austin, Texas by airmail for 1s 2d with ten stamps paying the rate and clear manu ‘2’
Lot 023
Two censored items here. First a cover from Nicaragua to Grenada sent 24 April 1940 and transited Jamaica and then Antigua on 2 May when the S1a handstamp of Censor 3 was applied (ANTIGUA PASSED BY CENSOR ‘3’ double ring). The second item is incoming from Malta to Antigua, surface mail rate 2½d, sent 5 March 1945, opened and resealed by censor DD/31 and reached Bessie Harper nine weeks later
Lot 024
Pair of censored items include 29 Oct 44 letter sent surface to Barbados, opened and resealed by IB524 with L8 tape. The second item, sent on DE 15 42 from Antigua to Vermont with KG6 5/-, intercepted in San Juan, Puerto Rico and resealed with US tape ‘EXAMINED BY 9827’

S3a handstamp ‘Crown Passed Code B/100’ manuscript 4 applied 25 Feb 1943 on letter from Curacao to St Kitts; with it we pair a cover from Dominica to New York, sent by airmail for 1s 2d on 21 DE 42 and so transited Antigua where it was opened and resealed with L2 tape by Examiner B/112 with manuscript 3 in blue
